
Dr Iranthi De Silva

With more than 25 years of clinical practice experience, Dr De Silva is a compassionate, deeply dedicated General Practitioner who brings a personalised, holistic and evidence based approach to caring for patients at every stage of life.
Her career reflects a genuine commitment to understanding people, supporting their wellbeing and helping them navigate both everyday health needs and complex medical challenges.
Her medical education and clinical practice have taken her across Sri Lanka, the Seychelles and China shaping a broad and culturally attuned perspective on patient care. Since settling in Canberra in 2020, she has embraced the rhythm of the city and values being part of the local community she now calls home.
Dr. De Silva has a strong interest in women’s health and is passionate about supporting women through every phase of life. Her services span menopause management, antenatal and postnatal care, cervical screening and contraceptive care, including Implanon insertion and removal. She is also an accredited provider of intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) services, offering insertion and removal of Mirena, Kyleena and Copper IUDs.
She enjoys the breadth of general practice and provides ongoing care for patients with a wide range of chronic conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart disease, thyroid disorders and mental health concerns. Patients consistently value her thoughtful, empathetic manner—she takes the time to listen, understand their worries and work collaboratively to achieve meaningful, sustainable health outcomes.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Dr. De Silva’s professional journey through the Seychelles, China and Australia has given her a deep appreciation for the richness of different cultures and lived experiences.
She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Sinhala, enabling her to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds and ensure they feel understood and supported.
Outside the clinic, she finds joy in gardening, sewing, cooking and exploring the outdoors—activities that keep her grounded and connected to the world beyond medicine.
